Three pillars, one method

An evidence-based approach that treats physical training and skills coaching as one and the same project, not two separate goals.

Where it started

The Tenfold Framework began with the aging-in-place model: a movement philosophy built around helping people maintain strength, mobility, and independence in their own lives, on their own terms, for as long as possible. The roles and routines that give life meaning often change with age, but they don't have to lose their meaning. The goal was always to help people keep showing up for their own lives.

Over time, that same philosophy expanded to meet people wherever they are, not only later in life. The physical side of the framework kept its aging-in-place foundation: functional movement, balance, and strength that hold up over decades. The psychological side was built alongside it, grounded in self-determination theory, the model built around the three needs proven to drive lasting behavior change.

The result is one method, built for the long game: strength training and skills coaching, designed together instead of separately. This is not a personal trainer offering casual mindset tips on the side. The skills come from motivational interviewing and DBT distress tolerance, and they are taught by someone with an M.S.W. and an M.B.A. from Boston College, ten years of clinical social work practice, and an ISSA personal training certification.

To be precise about scope: Tenfold is skills coaching and physical training. It is not therapy and it is not medical care. I am not currently licensed and I do not practise clinically here. Anyone who needs clinical support beyond that scope is referred to a licensed provider.

Why body and mind are trained together

Physical programming and mental acuity coaching aren't offered side by side as two separate services. They're built as one system, and there's a reason for that: research consistently shows that autonomy, competence, and relatedness aren't independent boxes to check. They work together, or not much works at all. Progress in one area (say, feeling more capable in the gym) tends to spill over into the others (feeling more in control of your choices, more connected to the people supporting you) and vice versa.

This also shows up in how motivation itself behaves. Change driven by pressure, guilt, or an outside reward tends to fade the moment that pressure or reward disappears. Change that's driven by something genuinely your own, a goal you actually value, tends to stick. So instead of relying on willpower or external accountability alone, every program is built to help that motivation become truly yours: internalized, self-directed, and far more likely to last.

Six ideas behind everything

Before it's three pillars, it's six ideas that shape how programs are built and how conversations go.

01

Grounded in Research

Every recommendation is backed by real evidence, not trends.

02

Built Through Action

Real change comes from small, consistent steps, not overnight overhauls.

03

A Trained Mindset

Optimism and curiosity aren't just nice to have, they're tools you can actually build.

04

Questioning Limits

Real growth means challenging the boundaries you've assumed are fixed.

05

Simple, Not Basic

Thoughtful living doesn't require complexity, just intention.

06

Built Together

This isn't a solo journey. Real change happens in real relationship.

That's the thinking behind the method. Here's how it actually shows up, session to session.

Every session, built around three needs

Not a ranking, not a score — three equally essential needs every program is built around.

01

Autonomy

You're in the driver's seat. Programs are built around your life, your schedule, and your goals, not a one-size-fits-all plan handed down to you. This matters more than it might seem: people who feel a plan genuinely belongs to them tend to stick with it far longer than people just following orders or chasing an external reward. The goal isn't compliance, it's ownership.

02

Competence

Progress you can actually feel. Every session is calibrated so you're challenged without being overwhelmed, so confidence builds step by step, right alongside physical strength. Feeling capable isn't just a nice side effect, it's one of the strongest predictors of whether someone keeps going or gives up.

03

Relatedness

A real relationship, not just a client number. Feeling genuinely supported by someone who's in it with you, not just scheduling and billing you, is consistently linked to better follow-through and better outcomes, physically and emotionally both.
